I honestly haven’t even seen the price yet lol. Despite them both using pixel art, the unit designs are distinct enough and the darker hues help separate the games further.įrom what I’ve seen so far, this will be a day one purchase for me, or even a preorder. Mostly cause it’s different from heroes 2, which I still play a lot. The Darker color pallet Might be a turn off for some, but I like it. I wonder if it reduces the hero’s stats or something along those lines rather than damaging the troops. The arrow tower shooting an incoming hero on the adventure map is interesting. I feel like they won’t expand anymore than what we saw in the trailer though. The expanding castles look neat as they grow larger. I was a little worried cause progress was looking really slow before that Their website and progress all got a big update after the previous e3 video. I’ve been following their updates pretty regularly since the 2019 announcement. They’ve definitely got plenty of time for polish. The price tag is pretty steep for not an AAA game. I'm on the fence with buying this one day one. But will probably give kings bounty2 a go before anything though, just cause it comes out first (and on my birthday ) Maybe that also limits the options and is done with premeditation?ĭefinitely looking forward to this one the most out of the KB2, disciples, and this. It's an interesting mechanic (not a separate screen, and for example defense towers "shoot" oncoming armies instead of siege battlefields, or maybe there will still be siege battlefields idk), but on the other hand it limits map design as you need to reserve a lot of space for a potential fully built town. Also, the town growth is interesting, you actually build them by expanding the area around. I wonder if they'll add Dragon units at some point, probably as neutrals. And if you follow their blogs/posts etc you'll see they are constantly working and tweaking stuff. The game is set to be out in Q1 2022, so there's plenty of time for polishing. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here cause everything else is looking really well done. Maybe it has something to do with why the combat stuff was put off for so long. Kinda like this "ok it's out, let's move on to other stuff" type of game. I don't want another "Vampire Wars" - a game that I had high hopes for, but aside from some patches it seems the game is receiving no post-release support. And I love the atmosphere.įrom what I've seen I believe it will be a perfectly fine game, the only questions at this point will be it's replayability and post-release support. It has also pretty interesting lighting effects or fog (plus they are still experimenting with some things so maybe they will "prettify" graphics at some point). This Pixel art direction is a conscious decision, it is an indie game afterall, but imo it kinda fits (I've been playing quite a few indie pixel art strategy games an its fine). You can also visit their Facebook page, a lot of stuff to see there.īut calling it ugly is imo too harsh. I personally like it although I do need to say it somehow looks less attractive in actual motion then on previous materials they provided. Send Instant Message | Send E-Mail | View Profile | Quote Reply | Link well, why must them make it so ugly? Like, I look at it and want to look away instantlyĮdit: truth be told, it is much less about the sprites and more about the frames per second, the clunkiness of it. Also, I appreciate retro graphics, but it seems these devs are trying way too hard. Personally, I don't know if I can get fully used to the new graphic styles of current games, or their microtransaction dynamics (I don't know if this will be an issue with this game, I certainly hope not as that would be a deal breaker.)īut I do agree the elevation is a good alternative to the rather terrible "Obstacles" we are used to. Perhaps because we have had a lot of promises of H3 spiritual successors and none delivered as expected? IDK, some people like King's Bounty or Age of Wonders or whatever.
